There’s no doubt that investing in a few colourful blouses and chinos will uplift your dressing drill. But sometimes a little piece of bright exuberance in the form of jewels will take things even further. As this photo from NYFW illustrates, nothing illuminates a look like accessories in vivid colours. When gold, silver and copper have gotten the best of you, it’s clear that your wardrobe is starving for the cerulean, orange, azure and lime shades that have enchanted the accessory world as of late. I know mine is. There’s nothing more invigorating than owning a little piece of vibrance, possessing the power to transform any dull ensemble you find yourself in. Rather than hunting down a kaleidoscope of colours to reinvigorate your wardrobe, consider the potential of these brilliant pieces …it may just be the punch your garments are thirsty for.

With March in our midst, I’m beginning to dream of the day when my bulky Winter coat can be traded in for a fitted wool blazer or a light Spring jacket. The novelty of sporting thinner layers that don’t contain down feathers really never gets old after months of Michelin-man-impersonations. One or two lovely statement frocks is what my Spring wardrobe needs for that revived feeling to truly last. My worn-out leather jacket will always be there, but a stand-out colour, some feather detail or a bold pattern certainly wouldn’t hurt. Whether an outfit is lacking in substance or it’s asking for a touch more texture, a unique jacket is the ultimate way to top it all off this Spring. Is your closet well stocked for the upcoming season?

This may not be the best post for winter dressing inspiration (in fact, it may be the worst), but patchwork denim has stood out to me ever since model Joan Smalls (top, middle) was spotted looking perfectly disheveled during New York fashion week, and I couldn’t help but compile a few great outfits, each so different in essence but all united by the same unique element. The comforting news? Patchwork is just as magnificent with long jeans, warm boots, a faux-fur scarf and that great parka of yours. If the gals at one of my favorite blogs – Honestly WTF – were writing this, they would probably show you how to make your own patchwork blouse, and if that’s your thing, go for it! I just can’t seem to find the time…so shopping it is! Get your patch on.
